Chip Ward is an active supporter of the Entrada Institute and Torrey resident. In June 2011, he presented a program as part of the Saturday Sunset Series.
From 1974 through 1978, Chip and his wife Linda lived at the Sleeping Rainbow Guest Ranch within Capitol Reef National Park. They began as caretakers for Lurt and Alice Knee and eventually leased and operated the guest ranch.
Chip spoke about why it was a formative and profound experience for them and read from his essay “Coming Home from going Crazy,” based on the lessons he learned here. He wants you to know he doesn’t like reading out loud while people just sit and would much prefer to converse.
Chip’s essays have been published in the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Miami Herald, Orion Magazine, High Country News, The Nation and numerous other newspapers, magazines, and web sites. He has appeared on NPR, CNN, CBS, PBS, and BBC.
