In recent years there has been a revival of sorts in Torrey. However, most of the new houses, and a new subdivision to the north, lie outside of Torrey’s incorporated limits. So, too, the more elaborate development of larger motels, fancier eating establishments, and modern convenience stores and service station centers, has taken place a half-mile or so east of town around the junction of highways 24 and 12. Today, Torrey itself actually remains little changed from when I first went there in the 1960s. To that, I have simply one thing to say: Good!
