The Harvest Time Scarecrow Festival is blowing into Wayne County. You’ll begin seeing scarecrows from border to border soon. We invite everyone to participate. The festival runs throughout the month of October.

Judging will be a little different this year. Those wishing to compete for prizes need to take a photo of their scarecrow and post it at Royal’s Grocery Store in Loa. The bulletin board should be up around the first of October. Voting will take place between October 6 and October 15.

If you prefer to share your scarecrow for online voting, upload your photo to the Facebook page. You can also vote on the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/HarvestTimeScarecrowFest.

If you’re unable to take and print your own photo and would like to be part of the competition, you can contact Larry Johnson at larrjoh@gmail.com.

In addition to the scarecrow competition, be sure to enjoy the other activities happening throughout the county. First up is the Harvest Homecoming event at the Gifford House in Capitol Reef National Park on October 3 from 9AM to 6PM.

Stay tuned for other events throughout the month including the youth events. The annual Pumpkin Run and Children’s Activities will be held on Thursday October 22. This afternoon event will feature fun games and activities for kids, a children’s costume contest, and a fun run for families!

The month ends with the Annual Community Halloween Costume Party at the Rim Rock Restaurant in Torrey on Saturday October 24. This is a FREE family event!
