On Saturday November 15, beginning at 5:30 p.m., friends and neighbors will gather to celebrate all that the Entrada Institute offers the community. The evening will feature a catered dinner, music by Christoph Luty, and exciting auction items. All proceeds from the evening will go directly to support the 2026 Sunset Series, which showcases incredible performances and programs for the community.
The catered dinner will feature a choice of creamy Dijon chicken with garlic wine sauce or a ratatouille layered casserole, each main dish with a variety of flavorful accompaniments. Wine and beer will also be served. To help the caterer plan for the event, please register by November 10 by going to entradainstitute.org and selecting Entrada Annual (Teasdale). Tickets Gala FUNdraiser are $50 each; proceeds support the 2026 Sunset Series.
Christoph Luty, a native Utahn and Torrey resident, had a 3-decade Los Angeles-based career as an internationally recognized jazz upright bassist, composer and arranger. He has performed in clubs, concert halls and festivals all over the world--from the Hollywood Bowl to the Concertgebouw to the Tokyo Blue Note, and everywhere in between. He has also played bass on over 30 albums, including the Grammy-winning soundtrack to the film “Good Night and Good Luck” (he also appeared on-screen in that film), and has performed on live television (“American Idol” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”). He is best known for his performances and recordings with the Clayton/Hamilton Jazz orchestra (21 years) and the Jeff Hamilton Trio (18 years). Since retiring to Torrey with his wife Nancy in 2022, he has enjoyed returning to his first instrument, the guitar, after a 35-year hiatus.
Auction items, silent and live, will include artwork, dining opportunities, shopping in Torrey, a week in a Paris apartment, a week in Crete vacation home, a weekend of lodging in Torrey to go with adventure opportunities in little known areas of Wayne County, and a weekend of lodging for two at Tavaputs Ranch, including a guided trip into Range Creek archeological sites and field station. It’s shaping up to be Utah’s best live and on-line charity auctions of the season.
The event will take place at The Lodge at Red River Ranch, 2900 Utah 24, just west of Teasdale. We invite you to join us in a grand celebration of a great community cause and in ringing in Entrada’s Grand Opening Season at the new cultural arts center. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to join your friends in an evening of fun, delicious food, and stellar entertainment!

On Saturday November

In 1915, George C. Fraser, a 43-year-old attorney, and his 18-year-old son, George Jr., traveled 2,000 miles by rail from Morristown, New Jersey, to Salina, Utah, to explore southern Utah. Led by Kanab guide Dave Rust, they spent a month experiencing the area on horseback. Their adventures will be discussed by Frederick Swanson, historian and author of Dave Rust: A Life in the Canyons, during a presentation at Robber's Roost, 200 West and Main Street in Torrey, this Saturday, October 25, at 7:00 p.m.

Craig Childs, author of The Wild Dark—Finding the Night Sky in the Age of Light, will be discussing his book at Robber's Roost, 200 West and Main Street in Torrey, this Friday night, October 24, at 7:00 p.m. His book guides readers to rediscover the heavens and to ask, "What does it do to us to not see the night sky?" Brooke Williams, author of The Story of My Heart, says of The Wild Dark, "The night sky—the stars and the deep, black spaces between them—may be the source of a particular wild wisdom that throughout our evolutionary history guaranteed our success as a species. Childs has written The Wild Dark because we need that vast wisdom now."

This event is SOLD OUT, but you can watch the livestream here.
