The leaves are changing, so it’s time to start building your scarecrow to display at the Harvest Time Scarecrow Festival in Wayne County. Last year, dozens of scarecrows could be found in yards and storefronts from Loa to Hanksville. This year we’re hoping for even more participation. We look forward to visitors from throughout the state coming to see our Wayne County scarecrows!

Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations are all encouraged to create and display their scarecrows throughout the month of October. Registered scarecrows are eligible for awards including the “People’s Choice” awards. To register your scarecrow, go to http://goo.gl/NnHTmf and complete the online form. A volunteer will bring you an official number and photograph your scarecrow.

Each weekend in October, there will be events held throughout the county sponsored by various organizations including Entrada Institute, 4-H, and Capitol Reef National Park. The festival will end with a family costume party at the Rim Rock Restaurant on Saturday October 25th.

If you’re planning an event associated with the festival, please let us know at info@entradainstitute.org so we can get your event into the upcoming fliers.

Over the next couple weeks, we’ll be sharing additional information about this exciting month-long event. Events and information will be posted at https://www.entradainstitute.org/scarecrow/ and also the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/HarvestTimeScarecrowFest
