Kurt Robins, Fremont River District Ranger will discuss “The History of Forest Service in Utah and the USFS in Wayne County Today.”

Parts of two national forests lie within Wayne County: the Fishlake and Dixie National Forests. Teasdale resident and District Ranger Kurtis Robins will share the history of the Forest Service in Wayne County and how its mission has evolved through over a century of management in Utah.

Kurtis Robins is District Ranger on the Fremont River Ranger District of the Fishlake and Dixie National Forests. Kurtis grew up on a family dairy farm in Scipio, Utah, and graduated from Millard High School and attended Southern Utah State College to play football and study Range Science.  After serving an LDS mission in Nova Scotia, Canada, he continued studies at SUSC and then transferred to Utah State University where he obtained a BS degree in Range Science.

Kurtis has worked on the Fillmore, Duchesne, Teasdale, and Loa Ranger Districts during his 21 years with the US Forest Service. He is a member of the Society for Range Management and the Central Utah Back Country Horseman, and serves as a volunteer fire fighter for the Teasdale Fire Department. Kurtis and his wife Melissa Kay Robins feel grateful to live in beautiful Teasdale. They are the proud parents of four sons and one daughter.
