Mark Chaney will be playing songs from his recent two volume CD, “High Standards,” celebrating the American songbook. Some of the pieces include Bayou, Night and Day, Ain’t No Sunshine, Old Devil Moon, and Mas Que Nada. Joining Mark are Tully Cathey on guitar and Dan Waldis on keyboards.
“Have drums, will travel” reads the card of this versatile percussionist. Mark has accompanied Bobby McFerrin, Mose Allison, Elvin Bishop, Herb Ellis, Laurel Masse, Von Freeman, and Joe Henderson. As a bandleader, he has enjoyed two European tours.
Tully Cathey is a guitarist, teacher, composer, and arranger. He has taught various college courses and has composed solo to large-ensemble jazz and classical works, as well as numerous documentary scores for KUED public television.
Dan Waldis—composer, arranger, pianist, and teacher—began studying piano at age 7. He has performed with Bobby McFerrin, Wynton Marsalis, Brandon Fields, Freddie Hubbard, and Bobby Shew. Dan’s CD, “A Little Jazz with Your Mistletoe” was recorded live at the 2006 Music-In-The-Box concert.
